Why does my public IP address change every time I restart my router?
Each time you restart your router, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may assign a new dynamic IP address using DHCP.
Most home internet plans don’t include a static IP by default.
🔁 Common reasons:
- Your ISP uses dynamic IP pools
- Your router doesn’t request the same IP
- The DHCP lease resets on reboot
✅ Want to keep the same IP?
- Ask your ISP for a static IP
- Or use Dynamic DNS
