How do NAT and IP addresses work together?
NAT (Network Address Translation) allows multiple devices on your local network to share a single public IP address when accessing the internet.
π§ How it works:
- Your computer has a private IP (e.g., 192.168.1.100)
- Your router uses NAT to replace that with its public IP
- The router keeps track of each session so replies return to the correct device
π NAT also helps with security:
- Outside devices canβt reach you directly unless you set up port forwarding
- NAT acts as a basic firewall
